I have always had a fascination with Japanese Kanji in blockletter format. With that, I’ve also always loved the vintage design of racing jackets. This project reflects both of those, and smacks you in the face with speed.
This jacket was a definite learning curve. In a lot of jacket, I tend not to add too much to the arms. so I went crazy and added detail in any place I could. I wanted something that just embodied the 1950’s moto racing jacket, and I feel like I got pretty close.
My favorite piece of this project is the top rocker which I adapted off a “mysterious” pin from Pinterest (Reason I say mysterious is because now it has completely vanished and I have never been able to find it again). It adds just enough punch to give the jacket a unique feel.
Fukushima Bomber is now soaking up the sun in Southern California.
