003 - FUKUSHIMA BOMBER

There has always been this hidden love of Japanese Kanji in my imagination. I find the script beautiful and unique. So, when creating FUKUSHIMA BOMBER, I wanted to bring that into the forefront of the design. Personally, I think the result gave this jacket the breath of life that has been able to turn heads.

Initially designed with a ‘cyber’ like design, I quickly realized how cool of a jacket this would be if I just dialed it back a century or two from the future and settled on the 60’s-70’s racing jacket. It was risky, but things worked out the way I wanted. I like to call this jacket “The jacket of firsts” because I did so many new things with this.

First, the “black-out” section on the shoulder. I went into this blind as a bat. Without any direction of what I was doing, I just jumped into it. There’s a small error on the backside of the shoulder, but we wont get into that. topped with a grey stripe across and a Japanese Toyota Racing Patch, its incredibly eye-catching.

Next the arm stripes. These were nervewracking. I dont think I have ever sewn something that well before. The effort shows, and I couldn’t be prouder. I had found the top-rocker design off of something on Pinterest and made some slight modifications to it. Using my techniques, I transferred it to canvas and stitched it between the shoulders. It gives the jacket an almost Akira look.

This has taken the cake as one of my most unique jackets. And of course, with something this cool… I had to give it to the coolest person I know: My girlfriend.
