We all start somewhere, and my starting point was RED HERO.
RH was the the spark of creativity derived from a want to make the coolest thing ever, and an idea from the vest’s owner, Chad Meadows. We both wanted to create something interesting, unique, and something that screamed ‘heroic’. Thus, we came to RED HERO… Along the shoulder is a torn up secondary layer of blue Denim with scattered studs. I wanted to create a mantle and have it represent a cape in some regards. The end result gave us one of the coolest designs I have seen on a vest.
The armored left lapel was something we found from a pinterest pin. When we found it, Chad immediately exclaimed, “Thats got to go on there”. And on it went. It adds some weight to the vest but is surprisingly mobile.
A cool design I always wanted to try became the bottom panel: what I call an ‘Under-patch’. Cut up from an old shirt and laced through some eyelets, the Marvel Comics logo can be just seen enough to give people the “ultimate fan” feel.
There are several other components to the vest, but the one that speaks volumes is the back patch. What was once an old shirt belonging to Chad, became the crown of this project. The powerful image you receive of the front side is topped by the reverse side; several of Marvel’s top heroes leaping into action.
We walked away from this project knowing those heroes are going to tell the tale of this garment.
